Pachira glabrum - Malabar Chestnut Plants
Pachira glabrum is a fantastic plant well suited to indoor cultivation and small containers. One of the hardiest warm loving plants, its only real sensitivity is cold. It grows in floods, droughts, in ground, in tiny undersized pots, full sun, poor indoor lighting....Simply amazing how tough it is.
In Taiwan, people started to braid the tree as it is used for luck outside and in front of things. Braided trees are very aesthetically pleasing, but do not produce fruit well. The fruit, which is not edible, contains many seeds which may be roasted and eaten or prepared into food.
