LeucaenaLeucaena leucocephalaLeucaena Usage Information In Terrariums: Curled bark segments and dried fruit give a really pretty forest floor appearance. In Vivariums: The curled bark is quite suitable in vivaria for smaller shy animals. It creates a good hiding place for many species. The fruit are good as a leaf litter, though note there will be seeds that may sprout. In Aquariums: The leaf is used commercially as a fish food. The fruit, seeds and bark we have not tested. General Appearance: Bark is relatively thin and it slightly curls and curves. Greyish in color. Fruit are a dark brown, thin and papery with bumps where the seeds are. Leaves are quite small and fine, and make an almost large dust appearance. Long Term: Leaves are either used in feed or as a leaf litter. In vivaria they decompose quite quickly. Bark is not exceptionally thick nor hard and will probably last up to 5 years in wet vivaria. Fruits last about 1 year or so in moist environments.
