BananaMusa sp.Banana Usage Information In Terrariums: Great as a leaf litter and soil amendment. Banana flower stalks especially ornamental, creating unqiue shapes. In Vivariums: Very suitable for animals and generally considered safe for many animals to feed on. The unique shape of the flower stalks are especially well suited for display with various animals. In Aquariums: Used in aquaria for adding tannins and helping adjust PH levels. The leaves will tend to be eaten by shimp, crabs and some fish relatively quick. Similar to indian almond. Flower sheaths last a little longer and flower stalks last a relatively long time, 1 year +/-. General Appearance: Leaves dry flat and medium brown. Due to the size of leaves the midrib is removed and th eleaves are cut into smaller peices. Please inquire if you require specific sizes. Flower sheaths dry to a dark color and curl up. They are excellent for hiding spots for smaller animals such as shimp or small terrestrial frogs. The flower stalk is the most unique of the banana plant. Its round stalk has elonngated protrusions where the flowers were attached. We have 2 sizes: Flowering stage and Fruiting stage. the flowering stage is a smaller stalk with cmaller, more tightly packed protustions. The fruiting stage are much thicker with alrger protusions that are further apart. Long Term: Leaves and flower sheaths last about 1 month in aquariums wiht species that feed on them Flower stalks last usually 1+ years depending on size.
