Heart Seed, aka Balloon Vine, is a tropical vine that prefers disturbed open areas to grow. Once established they are fairly tolerant of a wide spectrum of soils, rains and temps above freezing. This species has a tendency to become weedy and has a risk of becoming invasive in warm climates. Heart Seeds are most commonly grown for either their balloon like fruits in the garden, or for their seeds heart shaped pattern in arts and crafts. It is also used in various research currently and as a feed ingredient for certain insect cultures.
